Metis was a Titaness that brought forward thinking and counseling to the world. As Zeus reigned down judgement with a mighty hand and thunder upon the world, Metis was the voice beside him offering anothe perspective. Time and again, her counsel tempered abrupt judgement with prudence.

Zeus would have his say though.

After learning of a prophecy surrounding Metis and her future children, Zeus convinced her to transform into a fly and swallowed her. Metis was already carrying Athena, and according to the tale, she continued working from within Zeus, crafting armor for her daughter.

Eventually the constant pounding inside Zeus' head became unbearable. With the help of Hephaestus and a rather substantial axe, Athena emerged from Zeus' head fully grown and armored to the teeth.

Metis unfortunately is never mentioned after this tale. However, I do wonder if this is where we get the 'voice inside our head' that so often whispers words of wisdom and give us those moments to find a bit of calm in mind while the tempest blows.

I believe this chainmail ring to carry with it the very essence of Metis herself. Calm, couragous under pressure, and always thinking ahead.

That is where the idea of Ring of Metis came from.

I carry one myself each and every day. When too many things are competing for my attention, or I just need a moment for myself, I'll put it to use. Sometimes I'll spin it on a finger, or use both hands and roll it inside-out. It's surprisingly flexible.

It can also serve as a way to give your fingers something to do besides picking at yourself. It has really helped me, and I hope that you pick out for yourself too.
