Ring of Metis

Metis was a Titaness that brought forward thinking and counseling to the world. As Zeus reigned down judgement with a mighty hand and thunder upon the world, a voice could be heard over his shoulder offering a bit of counsel. Time and time again she tempered his abrupt and harsh judgement to one of prudence.

Zeus would have his say though. Through another story he convinced Metis to transform into a fly and swallowed her. However, due to a prophecy Metis knew about, this was where she would bring forth her daughter Athena. 

Once Athena was born, albeit in Zeus' head (he is a god afterall) Metis began crafting Athena's armor for her until it came to the point where Zeus could no longer think clearly due to the pain in his head. With the help of Hephaestus and a big ax, Athena was brought forth from Zeus' head fully grown and armored to the teeth.

Metis unfortunately is never mentioned after this tale. However, I do wonder if this is where we get the 'voice inside our head' that so often whispers words of wisdom and give us those moments to be calm in mind while the tempest blows.

I believe this chainmail ring to carry with it the very essence of Metis herself. Calm, couragous under pressure, and always thinking ahead.

I, myself, carry one each and every day. Often times I pull it from my pocket and put it to work calming my mind and allowing a portion to focus on that spinning ring on my finger. It allows me to focus when I have numerous things tormenting me for my attention. Also, I'll use it to give my fingers something to do instead of picking at my nails.

You can put it on a single finger and spin it with your thumb or use two hands and roll the ring inside-out until your moment of clarity has arrived. I absolutely love mine and use it nearly every day and I'm not just saying that. That is the truth.
